Quote: I thought I had seen it all when Kochman, while systematically trying to review each and every show from 1972, commented on Brent's prowess on the keyboards in his review of the performance on 9/15/72:

WTF? Brent? 1972?

Obviously it was a typo. Lighten the fuck up!

Believe me, I've had my share of problems with kochman -- probably as much as any of you -- but this is some of the most juvenile bullshit that I've seen here in a long time.

Threads like these are the best possible advertisement for heading over to other forums where people actually behave like adults for the most part.

What's the point of all this except to perpetuate bad blood and harsh feelings? What a waste of time.

Forum: GratefulDead Subject: The Secret... and some actual band related trivia questions

Half of us are kidding... the other half get really mad and take this shit serious... the ones that are joking get to laugh while the Oscar the Grouch types get to blow a cerebral blood vessel.

It's really fascinating to watch people hopping sides and changing alliances. I had a friend back in the day that would get all mad when you made fun of him... like really mad.

Guess what everyone did? Made fun of him until his face turned red and he wanted to fist fight. Then we would laugh even harder... the ones that shrugged their shoulders or joked about themselves never really got the riling the sensitive guy got.

So the moral of the story, and something I still am trying to perfect myself, is to not get mad at what anonymous strangers on an unmoderated forum say about you, your mom, your website, your music, your opinions, etc...

But damn it sure is fun to see some people get all pissed off. Ain't it?

So a dead related questions... if I was too young to see the band before the mid 1980's, am I really on a short bus?

Where the grilled cheese sandwiches any better in 72 than 89?

Does missing the first half of the show until you could find cheap tickets and get in qualify as "being there"?

Why do beer and mushrooms and heatwaves always end up with me having a concussion?

Did the band have a special surround speaker setup at the meadowlands during baba oreily, or was it the blotter?

How many shows does one have to go to, to be a real deadhead?

Did you know that deadhead also means a person without a ticket?

What does everyone think about people who listen to studio albums, or better yet, commercial live releases (live without a net, etc)?

I have that double CD and I enjoy the Eyes of the World with Marsalis on the horn during highway travel...

Am I a touchhead if I don't like the song "touch of grey"?

How come no one ever mentions throwing stones? We used to play a cover of it and I always dug it.. is it too "post 68" for serious consideration?

I hate being "picked" on and rarely do I pull anyones chain mostly because I hate when it's done to me

Is it a short bus?
No, the bus came by you got on, it's the same Bus that everyone else is on.

In 72 I wasn't at any shows I was 8 yrs old, but grilled cheese def'n'ly tasted better, especially when made w/ gov't cheese.(dont know the reference google it)

yes you were there you just missed the first set :-(

mushrooms + beer + WATER = no concussion

you can be a Deadhead w/ 0 shows example my 15 yr old daughter.

Deadhead also means a return trip in a semi-tractor w/o a trailer

I love Live w/o a Net ecspecially the Help/Slip/ Frank ,China/ Rider and Eyes

Touchead? Dont like TOG ? WTF

I love Throwin Stones, Bob's best IMHO

Looks like a head, talks like a head not necessarily a head, Love the GD music= Deadhead

again IMHO

Trust me, I knows about gummint cheese, my momma taught me about government cheese, getting sent to the store with food stamps as a child is a great feeling! Nothing like having the stigmata of free lunch tickets at school, tofu for dinner and no idea what soda and candy was. That last part I am grateful for though in all honesty... I just wish I didn't know what meth and ex-henchmen were and life could have been grand for me. Maybe I could have gone to law school or bought a boat, who knows what could have became of me!

I was a fetus in the early 70's, a toddler at best (I was very young as a child). I waited until at least 13 before I dropped acid and hung at in a parking lot (to get more dirty paper to sell to tourists... ah the good old capitalist entrepreneurial days) and by the time I made it inside to see what the old furry freaks were getting all googly about, it was close to coma time.

I just disfigured and condemned a pine tree to a slow, horrible death and am having regrets... I'm over it now.

Anyone ever find my frisbee? It had holes in it like windows and it looked like a UFO, I am sure someone remembers seeing it, it was yellow.

Hey now snow_and_rain my point was where the typo occured. I mean at the pub or here. Well that and why no one else here saw fit to bring it up.

You feel the need to tell me to lighten up, have at it. Nothing heavy was meant by the post. I also check in at LSP from time to time(different SN) post occasionallly in fact.

Since this is not the place for it, if you feel the need to get more input from me, contact me off board.

sorry man, i was getting pretty frustrated with this thread, and how people just kept piling on like third graders. i'll take your word for it that there was no ill intent. shouldn't let the internets get me all riled up, i know.

as for the specific error, i'm not really sure where it happened -- probably was in kochman's september 72 review thread (though i'm sure he corrected it long ago):

Be kind a point the way for me also, This is the sorriest excuse for a music forum I've ever seen If not for 1 or 2 individuals I would'nt bother with it at all, Kind people do show here from time to time with info on the band and shows but 99% is garbage.
